The park is located in downtown Todd and served as the main outdoor gathering space for the town. The covered stage, dance platform, covered pavilion and storage unit were used for concerts, picnics, revivals, weddings and other events. After Helene, the stage has moved to the adjacent and was damaged. The storage shed floated down the river and most of the contents (grill, tents, some music equipment, signage, cooking supplies, chairs and tables) are a total loss. The entire park is covered in inches of mud.
The plan for Cook Park is to work with a landscape and other architects to redesign the park for better drainage, returf the surface, rebuild or repair the structures and repurchase supplies before the 2025 concert season. The TCPO believes that restoring this park in downtown Todd is extremely important for community and visitor morale and enjoyment. If you would like to help bring back the music, please go here.

And now the Restoration:
Thanks to so many volunteers working with the TCPO organization and giving their time, money and expertise, the Cook Park restoration is progressing well. The stage has been moved and anchored to prevent it from being washed away by future floods. The stage floor has been extended and a new, much larger dance floor is being added.

The framing for the stage extension and the dance floor is done
Below: A large shed has been added to have enough space for storage and serve as a workshop. The pavilion will receive new decks with sturdy decking, and last, but not least, the bell has a found a new place welcoming guests and visitors on the side of the new access ramp.
Below: A lot of progress has been made over the past few weeks late April, although the rains early May have slowed us down a little. Once all the carpentry and electrical work has been completed on the Pavilion, the shed and the stage with the new dance floor, the landscaping crew can come in and make the park look really pretty.

Buildings are nearing completion, sod will go down shortly
Below: Despite days of bad weather (see above) the critical landscaping activities could finally start, and the last roll of sod was put in just before Memorial Day. Flower beds with bushes and trees have been created by the shed, framing the dance floor and along the access road and wrapping around the pavilion. Just a few more odds and ends have to be completed and everything is on track for the opening concert on June 28th. Come join us.

Plenty of space around the stage and the new, very inviting, dance floor

Isn’t that a nice view? The access ramp for the bands, supplies and everybody who might need it, is to the right.
