{"id":880,"date":"2016-06-03T19:00:32","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T19:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/toddnc.org\/?p=880"},"modified":"2017-05-30T00:37:29","modified_gmt":"2017-05-30T00:37:29","slug":"joseph-houck-todd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toddnc.org\/joseph-houck-todd\/","title":{"rendered":"Joseph Houck | Concert in Downtown Todd"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Summer music series kicks off with Todd native<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\">Joseph Houck<\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Todd Community Preservation Organization is so excited to be kicking off the Todd Summer Concert Series on June 11 featuring local artist, Joseph Houck. \u00a0This is the first time that Joseph is joining the concert series and so we want everyone to get to know a little more about him and his music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ze8hBZDLXZU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joseph grew up on Clyde Houck Road in Todd, attending Ashe County High and then Appalachian State University. Guided by his older brother, he started playing guitar and singing when he was 14. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joseph is a singer\/songwriter\u00a0known for his relatable lyrics that celebrate all aspects of being alive. Having grown up in the mountains of North Carolina, much of Joseph\u2019s music is inspired by traditional mountain music but his music spans many different genres including folk, blues and rock and roll. \u00a0As many mountain musicians do, he enjoys partnering with other songwriters and musicians. His most frequent collaborator is Jeff Martin of Jefferson, NC, a versatile songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who will join Joseph on stage in Todd. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2015, Joseph completed his first album, <em>Roam<\/em>. \u00a0The album includes eleven songs bound by a theme of travel and each song includes a different \u201cvessel\u201d by which the travel occurs. \u00a0See if you can figure out what each one is.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.josephhouckmusic.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sample Joseph&#8217;s music HERE!<\/span><\/a><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joseph Houck loves to perform live and is very excited about playing in his hometown, Todd. \u00a0Here is what he says about his performances:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMy greatest joy comes from writing a song that powerfully affects the listener. It\u2019s thrilling to feel you\u2019ve communicated something beautiful or exciting &#8211; a thought, an experience, an emotion \u2013 in a new way. Performing live is the ultimate fun! My goal is to deliver a dynamic set with varied tempos, arrangements, and genres.
